America Needs More Public Servants in Washington

By Team Borgia on May 17, 2012 - 4:34pm

Dear Voter, Politics as usual got you down? Tired of the self servants, private servants, and party servants in congress? Me too and we can change politics as usual. We can elect more public servants. We can support candidates like Chris Borgia who have signed a term limit pledge, a Contribution Limit pledge, and who are aligned not with Party, but with America and Americans.

Monthly Wrap up (April)

By Team Borgia on May 11, 2012 - 10:11am

This is less a wrap up and more just a quick note from Chris thanking our supporters and passing on a message to the competition.

I am in this race to win. Each and every day I wake up and work towards that goal. Each and every day I challenge myself to learn more, listen more, grow faster and think like a public servant.

Right now we are building a foundation for this campaign to grow off of, and with the help of our current (and future) supporters our message will be heard.

America needs more leaders aligned not with party or ideology, but instead with America and the future of this nation. Less selfish, more selfless.

It's time for a Refresh. We need to refresh our tax code to prevent politicians from using it as a tool to reward the well connected by making it simple and fair. We need to refresh our budget so we can get a handle on our 15 trillion dollar debt. We need to refresh our education system so every child has access to a quality education. We need to refresh our healthcare system so it can become less expensive and more outcome oriented. And perhaps most importantly, we need to refresh our election system so we have less party servants, self servants and special interest group servants in Washington.

Things have been quite around here as of late, but we're going to be shifting back into gear real soon. You can count on it.

Contribution Limit Pledge

By Chris Borgia on March 31, 2012 - 10:58pm

This pledge is dedicated to two groups: Those who recognize the corrosive effect that money has on our democracy, and those who are troubled by the class warfare that permeates politics today.

The themes of this campaign are all about leveling the playing fields, serving every citizen equally, and refreshing for America. A large part of that this theme means the 1% are treated no different then the 99% and vice versa. The limit of $199 is in honor of that leadership style. The pledge states:

  1. While campaigning to be Florida’s next United States Senator I will limit individual campaign contributions to $199.
  2. While serving as Senator, and for the full duration of my term, I will maintain a $199 contribution limit.

Term Limit Pledge

By Chris Borgia on March 31, 2012 - 10:32pm

I just wrote and signed a term limit pledge to the voters of Florida. If elected, the pledge limits me to two terms in the U.S. Senate.

There are many arguments both for and against enacting term limits, and while term limits are by no means a silver bullet that will address all of concerns in congress, I do support them. We have too many career politicians in Washington who have become complacent in their duties, they don't serve the public interest, this needs to change. Term limits, among many other reforms, will get us there.

The pledge states, I will:

  1. Limit myself to two terms in the U.S. Senate
  2. Support legislation to enact term limits for U.S. Congressional offices

Monthly Wrap up (March)

By Chris Borgia on March 27, 2012 - 10:43am

Over the last several weeks most of the progress was behind the scenes:

  1. We implemented an open source constituent relationship managing tool on the backend of our website. As we grow this tool will helps us communicate with supports and the media without paying a third party to facilitate that communication.
  2. We have upgraded the website to include twitter integration, a new design, and additional content (pledges, contact form, more positions...).
  3. Lastly, the message of the campaign has been solidified as evident by much of our new content and our slogan: Refresh for America. We'll have a lot more to say about this in the near future.
